Safety Associate

Starting Pay Rate: $17.00
Location: Must be available to work at both our Pasadena and Deer Park plants as needed
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily walkthroughs, informal safety inspections, and audits across work areas to identify and report hazards or unsafe behaviors.
- Assist in onboarding new hires by presenting safety orientation materials and reviewing basic site-specific safety policies and requirements.
- Attend safety committee meetings, take notes, and assist with preparing agendas and action item summaries.
- Perform routine safety inspections on eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, spill kits, and other safety equipment, document findings and report deficiencies.
- Support the contractor safety program, including conducting safety briefings, collecting, and filling permits, and ensuring all required documentation is on file before work begins.
- Track and file near miss report and assist in follow-up actions or investigations when necessary.
- Report employee safety concerns and suggest improvements to management and the safety team.
- Help maintain safety postings and boards, ensuring they are current and compliant.
- Perform data entry and recordkeeping for inspections, permits, training, and reports.
- Assist with conducting safety trainings and daily pre-work safety talks.
- Help create and update Lockout/Tagout procedures and Job Safety Analyses.
- Provide general support to site security on safety related matters.
First Aid, CPR, AED qualified
Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: High School diploma required
Years of Related Experience: Production experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Intermediate personal computer skills including Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills. and reasoning skills to provide a positive work environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish.
