GENERAL PURPOSE
Describe the basic function of the job; the reason the job exists.
This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for performing maintenance work to ensure the proper and
efficient running of equipment designed to handle wastewater.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This job may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management.
Mixes and administers chemicals at appropriate dosages and rates as directed. Helps receive, store and dispense bulk
chemicals and absorbents.
Cleans and services wet-wells, catch basins and septic tank traps. Inspects and maintains plugs in all designated
floor drains in plant.
Collects, stores and properly disposes of waste products such as aerosol cans, paint, used brushes and rollers,
drums, used absorbents and oil filters.
Drains, cleans and inspects all tanks and pits.
Services and operates electronic sampler. Catches and tests pH samples.
Responsible to maintain appropriate records and logs.
May calibrate and operate hazardous gas detector.
Assists in the diagnoses of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, plumbing or related problems and applies appropriate
corrective action as directed. Helps perform minor repairs to gearboxes and electrical motors and may help
adjust/program electronic equipment.
Participates in and successfully completes training directed at increasing job-related trade skills as mandated by
management/supervisor.
Performs all duties in compliance with company policies and procedures and in a safe manner according to State,
Federal and company regulations.
Keeps all areas clean, neat, orderly, and ensures areas are returned to their safe condition according to policy and
procedure.
Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner
consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct
QUALIFICATIONS
Summarize the typical qualifications in terms of education, years of related experience and other additional technical/professional/trade competencies of this job.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
Years of Related Experience: 0-1 year of related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Completion of Hazardous Materials/Hazardous Waste Certification Training if part of the
hazardous materials clean-up crew. Knowledge and ability to properly handle and process EPA, DOT, and OSHA hazardous
waste shipping regulations. Knowledge of Area Wastewater Ordinance, EPA regulations, OSHA regulations, DOT Hazmat
Pay Rate: Beginning at 22.00 -25.00 per hour
