What you will be doing:
This intern will support the Schwan’s Culinary, Product Development, & Marketing teams continue to grow strong culinary culture by supporting events and functions, identifying innovative trends, and supporting the development of gold standard formulas.
- Support day-to-day culinary functions in Schwan’s corporate offices in Bloomington and Marshall, Minnesota. (based in Bloomington, company travel to Marshall)
- Grow the food focused culture at Schwan’s through menu development, executing F&B functions for special events, and supporting training and learning events.
- Research and support the creation of innovative gold standard recipes and participate in transitioning recipes to manufacturable formulas.
- Participate in product cuttings with R&D, sales, and marketing leaders.
- Support food show sales presentation planning & participation and interact with customers.
What the expectations are of you:
- A passion for food and a desire to share that passion with others
- General knowledge of culinary trends and practices, a focus on East Asian cuisines is preferred.
- Ability to apply culinary fundamentals in a professional setting.
- Ability to apply food service safety and sanitation methods.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and drive for results.
- Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Must be a confident self-starter who is comfortable driving decisions from areas of ambiguity.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should currently be enrolled in a Culinary Arts, Food Science or related program
- Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience cooking in a professional setting; more experience is preferred. Asian cuisine expertise/experience preferred.
