We are hiring a Principal Research Scientist to work out of our R & D team in Marshall, MN. In this role, you are responsible for developing new ingredients, platforms, process technologies, and new applications of existing technologies or processes for commercialization into new products, processes, and solutions that enhance or replace current technology.
Responsibilities
- Researches and develops new technologies, platforms or processes that can be commercialized into products or solutions that support corporation, business units, and department product strategies
- Develops new applications of current known ingredient, platform or process technology that can be commercialized to replace or enhance existing products or process
- Works with strategic suppliers to identify and collaborate in the development of new ingredient, platform or process technologies
- Provides technical knowledge and expertise to resolve complex ingredient, product, and process issues
- Participates in new product ideation and assists in the identification, refinement and planning of new product and service ideas that will create new business opportunities or meet business unit strategies
- Documents all work according to established procedures and guidelines and prepare various project reports to project personnel and project leader to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, issues, solutions, timeline, and accountability
Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Science or related field
- 12+ years of related experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of food ingredients, food functionality, food chemistry, and food processing
- Strong knowledge in design, execution, and statistical analysis of experiments
- Basic knowledge of analytical methods and ability to operate analytical equipment
- Basic knowledge in thermodynamics, physical chemistry, and process engineering
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $104,625 to $174,375 annually with eligibility for a 15% annual incentive bonus, that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to educations, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
