What we are looking for:

We are eager to hire a Korean-bilingual Sr. Engineering Manager to be responsible for assuring quality of plant engineer capital project requests (e.g. Repair & Maintenance, Critical Infrastructure, EHS/Food Safety) and life-cycle measurement of performance across multiple CJS manufacturing facilities.  This role acts as gatekeeper, assessing plant Project Engineering concepts, scope, metrics, and execution plans for completeness. This role can work out of any of our CJ Foods locations (La Palma, CA; Fullerton, CA; Beaumont, CA; Columbus, OH, Brooklyn, NY; or Robbinsville, NJ) OR our CJ Schwan's corporate headquarters in Bloomington, MN.


  • Collaborate with Plant Project Engineers across multi-CJS factories on capital project development:  scoping, budget estimates, schedule development, construction plans, cash flow projections, downtime planning/risk mitigation, procurement plan, etc.
    • Act as a gatekeeper for capital approval requests from the plants
    • Provide coaching/guidance on vendor selection, Engineering standards, resource planning, etc.
    • Review project scope, costs, & timing to assure high probability of execution delivery
    • Assure projects incorporate deliverables from x-functional teams (production, maintenance, sanitation, HR, logistics)
  • Assure plant Engineer adherence to Project Management best practices.  Escalates elevated risk and mitigation needs
  • Collaborate with Finance & Accounting leads in monthly reviews on capital allocation and accounts payable performance
  • Validate accuracy of plant cash flow projections and project closeout/in-service financial allocations
  • Inform resourcing gaps and works with Plant & Engineering leadership to develop robust staffing plan
  • Support Site Director to train local project Engineering talent.  Advise observations for talent review process.
  • Directly manage own projects as assigned.  
  • Responsible for project coordination, execution, and CAR deliverables. 
  • Provide project details (cost, schedule, design) to VP Engineering as needed for the annual capital planning process
  • Work with plant leadership to scope and develop budgetary estimates for future productivity, growth and/or repair projects
  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.

Education: Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Process preferred). 

Years of Related Experience: 10+ years in process, packaging equipment, infrastructure or maintenance projects. Some level of experience in food, beverage, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies strongly preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bilingual in Korean and English. Prior experience executing bid process, defining sub-contractor performance criteria and managing subcontractors, required.  Strong people management skills with the ability to train and develop others; Must be willing and able to travel 25% (typical) to 50% (peak) of the time, to other manufacturing sites within US, vendor facilities, construction sites, etc.
