We are hiring a Food Safety & Quality (FSQ)Micro Lab Supervisor at our pizza manufacturing facility in Florence, KY. In this role you are responsible for providing technical and applied expertise and leadership, specifically focused on microbiology and/or chemistry to support the assurance of food safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality. You will have daily executional responsibilities, project management duties, and supervisory accountabilities to lead the laboratory. You are also responsible for effectively and efficiently operating the laboratory, maintaining a highly trained and engaged staff, verifying performance levels, and assuring equipment and supplies are fully operational.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads microbiology reviews, maintains, and updates microbiological methods and standards.
  • Audits techniques to assure they meet all laboratory procedures.
  • Ensures raw ingredients and finished goods are tested within microbial specifications and releases raw materials to production and finished goods for shipment Interprets results and notifies QA Supervisors and Manager of Food Safety Microbiology of findings.
  • Develops and implements sampling and testing studies, evaluates results, and generates necessary reports. Coordinates the maintenance of microbiological laboratory and equipment.
  • Keeps current on regulatory issues in area of responsibility and represents the company to regulatory inspectors in area of responsibility.
  • Works closely with sanitation to verify and validate cleaning programs, schedules, and procedures. Performs all duties in accordance with USDA, FDA, State, Federal and Company regulations.
  • Manages, trains and develops lab employees Food Safety Serves as HACCP Program resource for multiple plants, aids in maintenance of HACCP Plans and reassessments as necessary, develops and conducts CCP validation studies, and may conduct HACCP training.
  • Collaborates with plant engineering and Research & Development in development and implementation of lethality validation programs around Ready-To-Eat (RTE) products, including but not limited to RTE process risk assessments.
  • Serves as liaison between Plant FSQ Manager, plant Microbiology department and corporate FSQ to monitor and trend pre-operational sanitation performance and microbiological performance of ingredients, in-process and finished products.
  • Assists with Global Food Safety Initiatives program development, implementation and compliance.
  • Identify areas of need to drive greatest improvement in laboratory operation, food safety, quality, and product consistency for the facility providing positive impact to plant driven metrics. Be able to utilize and critically evaluate data from a variety of sources, to identify root causes, and lead teams towards resolution. Focus effort around food safety (microbiology / chemistry information) and how it relates to operational impact.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience 
  • Strong technical skills in area of focus (microbiology and/or chemistry) with ability to interpret general technical and scientific results and perform analytical tests
  • Sound mathematical and basic food science understanding
  • Basic understanding of a manufacturing environment and production operations.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and basic food regulatory requirements

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $58,500 to $97,500 annually with eligibility for a 10% annual incentive bonus that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
