Primary location- Erie, PA
Secondary locations: North East, PA & Westfield, NY
This full-time position is part of the Safety Department at the Erie/North East/Westfield facilities. Direction will be provided by the EHS (Safety) Manager. Support will be provided by the EHS Coordinator, as well as the Manufacturing Manager and his management team. The position will work in a designated plant for the majority of its responsibilities but may also work in another plant

What we need from you:
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- This position is scheduled for normal business hours; however, flexible work arrangements will be made to support alternative shift work as needed.
- Inspect machinery processes and procedures to ensure good health and safety practices
- Seeking opportunities for improvement by monitoring work areas for safe practices and capturing Near Misses. Provide support for improved safety, including on-the-spot coaching.
- Work with contractors and ensure safety policies are followed
- Conduct daily safety training for new and current employees
- Conduct safety training on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc)
- Carry out examinations of machinery, working environments and structures, taking measurements of noise, heat, and vibrations, and taking photographs and samples where necessary
- Ensure team members are provided with suitable protective equipment, such as ear protection or appropriate types of gloves and clothing
- Investigate precautions taken to prevent industrial diseases
- Investigate procedures for working in hazardous environments or with potentially harmful substances
- Support supervisor with accident investigations and team member concerns.
- Ensure own behavior is consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
Qualification
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: Production experience preferred
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Intermediate personal computer skills including Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and reasoning skills to provide a positive work environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to learn and use safety computer system. Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish a plus.
- Perform all duties in compliance with existing USDA, OSHA, State, Federal, and company regulations, policies and procedures (including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and safety regulations)
Working Condition
- Stand and walk on concrete for long periods of time
- Keeping a straight product flow along conveyors
- Work in a wide range of temperatures and conditions while being exposed to moving mechanical parts
- The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including but not limited to bump cap, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the company mission, values, code of ethics, policies and other standards of conduct
