FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What internships will be available this year?
We typically have a broad range of internship opportunities available each year ranging from Engineering and Food Science to Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources and Information Technology. Most Engineering and Research & Development internships will be posted by the middle of Fall Semester and all other internships are usually posted by December 31st. Other internships may be posted on an as needed basis.
Where are the internships located?
The Schwan Food Company is headquartered in Minnesota, but we have locations across the country. Many of our internships will be based in Minnesota, but we typically have opportunities at many other locations throughout the United States as well. When you click on search jobs, locations will be included in the job postings. Interns needing to relocate for an internship receive a transition payment to help with moving-related expenses.
Are the internships paid?
Yes, all of our internships are paid positions. Because our interns are engaged in challenging work designed to make an impact on our business, we compensate them competitively. Since an internship is a temporary assignment, interns are not eligible for the standard employee benefits package.
What activities are there for interns?
In addition to the projects you work on in your department, you will also be involved in developmental activities with the other interns. During the summer, all interns participate in weekly sessions where you learn more about the company overall, participate in career development seminars and network with your peers. Throughout the summer, interns also take part in Intern Orientation and Intern Development Day, listen to presentations from Company leadership, take tours of our manufacturing plants and participate in other exciting activities.
